Applications

Oil refining processes produce large quantities of waste gases with sulphur content. The sulphur must be recovered in order to meet environmental legislation that limits total sulphur emissions from the plant.

Our blowers are used in these Sulfur Recovery Units (SRU) to supply the necessary primary air to the furnace reactor.

The Continental Industrie blowers can comply with the API 617 Norm 7 th edition regulation with some minor deviations.

More than 40 years of experience in research, development and manufacture of centrifugal machines, with several thousand machines installed, makes Continental Industrie blowers and exhausters the benchmark in reliability for continuous duty and extremely rugged service, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The main advantages of the Continental Industrie cast iron or aluminium centrifugal multistage manufactures are simple design and mechanical reliability, both highly important for this application.

The air characteristics (variable flow with constant vacuum and driver shaft power proportional to the used flow) allow our machines to run with a stable flow no matter how many active operators there are.

The energy consumption is thus proportional to the number of inlet nozzles in use.

The operating characteristic therefore generate  important energy savings.

The durability and reliability of our machines are important for this application.

In particular, our cast iron machines that create the vacuum for our pneumatic conveying systems are less sensitive to the possible passage of particles through the machine than other technologies.

The main advantages of the cast iron or aluminium centrifugal multistage exhausters that Continental Industrie manufactures are simple design and mechanical reliability, both highly important for this application.

The extremely simple design of our machines guarantees maximum reliability.

The function of the blower, for this application, is to supply air to one or several tanks in order to bring oxygen to bacteria which degrade the organic matter. To inject this air, the blower must overcome the resistance, or backpressure, due to the water height and diffuser/piping losses.

As the effluent quantity to be treated changes over the course of time, it is desirable to inject only the amount of oxygen necessary and in sufficient quantities to optimise the oxygen needs of the bacteria, thus making it imperative to have the ability to vary the flow while maintaining constant pressure.

The Centrifugal Multistage technology allows variation of the flow by a simple regulation butterfly valve located at the inlet. Energy consumption is therefore in proportion to the actual flow point, thereby optimizing performance and minimiaing power consumption at all operating conditions.

The ovens with fluidizing beds are frequently used to incinerate waste products or sludge from wastewater treatment plants. The principle of combustion by fluidizing bed is to "heat" a sand bed and to suspend the sand particles by use of an air injection nozzle system. The combustible material is then fed into the bed where the high sand temperature ignites the material and the active movement of the fluidized sand particles completes its incineration.

The Centrifugal Multistage Blower supplies air which "fluidizes" the sand bed. This air is also used for the supply of the necessary oxygen for the combustion of waste products. The operating curve of the blower covers a large flow range, thereby allowing a variable flow rate that can be adjusted to match the quantity of waste products to incinerate. Our blowers can also be used for the supply of air to the burner used to heat the sand bed.

The handling of compressed gases must be considered more hazardous than the handling of liquids and solids. The procedures adopted for the safe handling of compressed gases are centred on containment of the material, to prevent its escape to the atmosphere, and proper control of pressure and flow.

Our machines can run continuosly, even under extreme conditions, and are capable of handling a variety of gases without risk of contamination, operating efficently and reliably without leaks.

The main features of the centrifugal multi-stage blowers manufactured by Continental Industrie are simple design and mechanical reliability, both highly important for this application.

Carbon black is produced from a petroleum oil based substance. The petroleum substance is fed into a specially adapted combustion chamber and heated to around 950ºC. This process "cracks" the petroleum to form a gas and carbon black powder.

Those elements go through various filters, which extract the carbon black powder. Adding water to this powder creates larger granules. These granules are processed, dried and conditioned. This carbon black powder is used in a wide variety of products, including pneumatic tires and printing links.

Our Blowers are used to supply air to the combustion chamber burners. The characteristic of our blowers, in terms of simplicity, mechanical reliability and the performance curve, make them perfect for this process.

Steam is the gas formed when water passes from the liquid to gaseous state. At the molecular level, this is when the H2O molecules manage to brake the hydrogen bonds that hold them together. These free molecules are those that form the transparent gas we call steam.

Our compressors are used in vacuum ironing equipment. The vacuums created are connected to the presses used to create the vacuum, remove moisture and iron dry clothes for an optimal finish.

Depending on the number of presses, you select a vacuum that gives enough flow to maintain a regular and continous line of work. Our highly efficient copressors ensure maximum reliability for this kind of application.

Dewatering or construction dewatering are terms used to describe the action of removing groundwater or surface water. Slurry is pumped into the filter press through the manifold located on the stationary head. As the slurry fills each chamber of the press, the liquid component passes through the cloth medium and across the drain field.

The main function of the filter media is to provide a supportive framework for development of the filter cake. During the cycle, the larger particles in the slurry begin to gradually bridge the openings in the filter media, reducing the size of the openings. Smaller particles then bridge these reduced openings, allowing the filter cake to form.

Our Multistage Centrifugal Blowers provides the pressure that forces the slurry into the filter press.

Category that covers every type of combustion of air or gas produced by the sequence of exothermic chemical reactions between a fuel and an oxidant accompanied by the production of heat and conversion of chemical species.

Our Multistage Centrifugal technology offers a high volume of air at a high pressure to provide forced air through the combustion process.

The operating curve of the blower covers a large flow range, thereby allowing a variable flow rate that can be adjusted to match the quantity of waste products to incinerate. Our blowers can also be used for the supply of air for the burner used to heat the sand bed.

Salt water is desalinated to produce fresh water suitable for human consumption or irrigation. The traditional process used in these operation is vacuum distillation: essentially, the boiling of water at less than atmospheric pressure and thus a much lower temperature than normal.

This is because the boiling of a liquid occurs when the vapour pressure equals the ambient pressure and vapour pressure increases with temperature. Thus, because of the reduced temperature, energy is saved. Multistage flash distillation, a leading method, accounts for 85% worlwide of production.

Continental Industrie Multistage Blowers are used for the backwash on the membrane filtration pretreatment previous to the reverse osmose desalination.

A new technology has been recently developed which makes it possible to extract a representative gas phase sample from a source of natural gas which is fed into an analyser that continuously analyses it. The new technology also provides a means for preconditioning the sample gas in a manner that reduces the risk of condensation while the sample gas is transported to an analyser.

The new technology consists of first removing entrained liquid from sample the gas followed by immediate reduction of the risk of condensation due to pressure during transportation.

The Continental Industrie Centrifugal Blowers are 100% oil free and  are ideally suited for stack gas and process gas analyzer systems. They are primarily used to transport gas sample streams from the point of measurement to the gas conditioning system and analyzer rack.

An air knife is a tool used to blow liquid or debris from produtcs as they travel on conveyors. Air knives are normally used in manufacturing or as the first step in a recursive recycling process to separate lighter or smaller particles from other components for use in later or subsequent steps. They are also used in post manufacturing drying of parts and conveyor cleaning, and as part of component cleaning.

The knife consists of a high intensity, uniform sheet of laminar airflow sometimes known as streamline flow. An industrial air knife is a pressurized air plenum containing a series of holes or continuous slots through which pressurized air exits in a laminar flow pattern. The exit air velocity then creates an impact air velocity on the surface of  the object at which the air is directed.

In mining the flotation is a process for separating minerals from gangue, the waste rock, by taking advantage of differences in their hydrophobicity. Differences between valuable minerals and waste gangue are increased through the use of surfactants and wetting agents in the flotation cell, which is designed to be fed with forced air, and require a flotation air blower.

Crude ore is ground to a fine powder and mixed with water, frothing reagents, and collecting reagents. When air is blown through the mixture, mineral particles cling to the bubbles, which rise to form froth on the surface. The waste material (gangue) settles to the bottom. The froth is skimmed off, and the water and chemicals are distilled or otherwise removed, leaving a clean concentrate. The process, also called the froth-flotation process, is used for a number of minerals, especially silver.

To protect iron sheets from corrosion, manufacturers apply a galvanized coating to the sheets. For this, the iron sheet goes through a liquid galvanizing bath and re-emerges with a coating of non-uniform thickness.

To leave only the necessary and sufficient thickness to protect the iron sheet, it is necessary to take off the excess by the way of an air knife. The centrifugal blowers are used to supply air to the air knife nozzles.

To obtain a good quality coating, it is imperative to supply an oil free, non-polluted air stream, constant and without pulsation. One of the characteristics of the Centrifugal Multistage Blower design is that it supplies oil free, clean air and without pulsation.

Therefore our blowers are preferred for this application.
